No one knows until they have been there how hurtful it can be when someone you grew up with all your life shuts you out of theirs. And now? Am I suppose to walk away and pretend nothing is wrong? Shouldn't I deserve a reason as to why they are acting this way? I feel I do - you see they went three years and didn't speak until our mom passed away and they apologized and all was well or so I thought! And now here we go again... Silence, pass right by you as if you were not there! Well I am human, I have feelings and if I am responsible for your feelings toward me - give me a reason why!!! I do deserve that much. Life is too short to worry about petty mess as this yet I don't understand! We had been fine and all of a sudden bam...

We have lost loved ones time and time again since our mom left us in 2000 and it hurts to know we are in the same room and never speak, I have tried to talk to him and he acts as if I am not there - everybody sees this, they are not blind or are they? We are brother and sisters, what is the meaning of this? Why is he like this?

January 15th, a few days ago, we lost yet another loved one and of course there he came in to pay his respects. As he greeted our older sister and her brother-in-law, he turned his head away from me as I spoke and I am standing right there just as if he didn't see me. Oh how bad it hurts and I don't know exactly how to deal with this... It is so easy for people to tell me not to worry about it, especially when it is my sister and she is not going through this stupid mess!!!****************************

Okay, so I have made my mind up - if he feels this way and wants to shut me out of his life - so be it, I can't make him care about me. There are a lot of things I would love to say to him but I won't - I give up! Right now this is the way I feel and hope he will see this one day - because right now if something happens to me I don't want him come around - if he can't talk to me or come around me now while I am breathing, I don't need him there after I am gone! So there!!!

"The Scare of My Life"

The day began as always, Daddy says his "goodbyes" and it is time to feed the kids. Kodie, 7 mos. today to be exact, had finished her breakfast and was a little fussy. After rocking her a little she started getting sleepy so I laid her down in the little crib for her to nap while I retrieved her pillow for her little head. One second and Kiara who is 6 years old and staying with me while school is out started screaming "Mawmaw, Kodie isn't breathing!" How I got turned around and picked her up I don't know, she had turned purple and would not respond to me whatsoever... tears flowing, my heart pounding as I tried to get her to move something - oh my God she was limp as a dishcloth. Grabbing the phone I called her Daddy and told him what was going on - he never hesitated to ask questions as he broke down in tears. All he could say was "oh Mama, what's wrong? I'll be there in a few minutes." Running through the house to go out back where Pawpaw was working, she looked up at me. Gosh it felt like all this happened in hours and in reality it was just a few seconds, "Kodie", I cried as she finally came back to me, she looked like a ghost, white and still. Calling her Daddy I assured him she was okay and looking around some. I felt as if I were running in quicksand and my feet wouldn't move - how in the world is this happening, how am I going to face my son and his wife if something worse happened? So many things went through my mind as I paniced and worried so. Sitting on the couch with Kodie and Kiara she smiled and smacked my hand playing with my rings, "oh Kodie you are ok!" as I hugged held to my chest.

My son arrived and after a few minutes of hugs, reliefs and assuring all is well, his wife calls and says to meet her at the doctor to have him check Kodie out. He finally sends her to the local hospital and has an EKG ran on her. Finding out later her Mom did this a lot as a child. Those little crying spells and I mean they are something and pitiful! She is fine, my son called a while ago checking on me - this is my lesson, this added ten years to my life today and I will hold her more and never leave her side!

What to do when your child holds its breath:

Breath-holding usually happens when babies or children:
• are crying
• are frightened or upset
• have had a minor accident and have gone into shock.
These children will cry, then catch their breath and ‘hold’ it without breathing. This is not done on purpose – even if it seems that children are holding their breath as part of an extreme tantrum.
Scary as they are, breath-holding spells usually end within 30-60 seconds, when children catch their breath and start to cry or scream. In some cases, children will hold their breath until they lose conciousness. When this happens, the body automatically kick-starts breathing again.
Some cases of breath-holding are associated with iron deficiency anaemia. Your GP can do a simple blood test to determine whether this is a likely cause.
Children as young as six months can have breath-holding spells. Around 90% of children stop doing it by the time they’re six. The spells can happen as often as several times a day, or as rarely as once a year.
Breath-holding does not cause long-term damage. There’s no evidence that it has any harmful effects on the brain.
What to do when children hold their breath
Follow these tips to help children through breath-holding spells.
• Stay calm. The spell is likely to pass within a minute.
• Lay child on the side and watch over until the spell ends.
• Do not put anything in the child’s mouth, not even your fingers to clear the airway. If the child starts having jerky movements, you can hold the child’s head, arms or legs to prevent injury.
• Don’t shake the baby or child. This won’t stop the breath-holding and can cause injuries.
• Reassure other children or adults present that it is a harmless spell and will pass soon.
• Sometimes children might fall and hurt themselves during the spell. If you think this has happened, it’s best to check with a doctor.
When to see a doctor
Most parents want to have their child checked when breath-holding occurs the first time. In particular, consult a doctor if your child:
• is younger than six months
• has frequent attacks (more than once a week). Ask whether anaemia might be a cause. If it is, ask about the possibility of using iron supplements
• looks confused or drowsy after the breath-holding
• has shaking and stiffness lasting for much longer than a minute, and takes a while to recover. This might not be simple breath-holding.
Preventing breath-holding
You can’t prevent breath-holding, but you might be able to prevent the events leading up to it.
• When children start to get upset, try to distract them.
• Reassure children after they’ve had a fright or a shock.
• Give children plenty of warning if you need to make a change to a different or new activity or situation. This means they won’t get too much of a fright when things change.
• Learn more about managing tantrums. You might be tempted to give in to your child during a tantrum, because you are worried the tantrum will cause breath-holding. But giving in to tantrums often causes more tantrums.
The two types of breath-holding
Cyanotic breath-holding (or ‘blue spells’) is the most common type of breath-holding. Children who are affected:
• are crying or upset
• catch and hold their breath and then turn a bluey-purple colour, particularly around the mouth.
Pallid or pale breath-holding (or ‘pale spells’) is less common than cyanotic. Children:
• might not be crying
• catch and hold their breath – their heart rate slows down and their skin can look pale
• sweat and are tired when the spell is over
• who have these spells might also faint as adolescents or adults.
During both types of breath-holding, some children pass out and once they do their breathing kick-starts again. Some children have jerky movements or a seizure, but this is very rare.

No other person in this world could be as blessed to have such a wonderful brother-in-law as I am. James has been like a brother to me for the many years he was with us. Always there to lend a hand if you needed anything - always there to lend an ear if you needed to talk about anything... Loved my sister, his daughters, granddaughters and great-granddaughters so much and his family - this man will surely be missed by us all. There are so many memories we have of James and believe me we can share them with a lot of tears and smiles. His memory will be with us for always...

he didn't stand a chance with us when we all gathered -

luckily our brother would show on some occasions.

This man was blessed with so many sisters

With lives of their own there on display

God took his hand saying “it’s time to go”
In poor health for so many years

This is Dewboy and Jamie, my youngest son aka Thumper on Christmas Day 1992, we lived on Sidney Ave, Burlington, NC. Oh look at the smiles and happiness here and oh so very young. Landon was 28 years old & Jamie was 16 years old.

How do you describe such a friendship as this? Landon and Jarrett, two best friends who were inseperable while living here in Burlington. After Dewboy married and moved to New Jersey they still communicated through phone calls and visits. No better friends than these two. They shared and dreamed the same dreams and yet fate had other plans for the two of them.

He stayed with me on New Years' Eve day and reminded me at least a hundred times his birthday is on Monday, January 5th and he would be five years old - little did he know he was getting a "Spiderman" birthday party! My heart goes out to George and Cindy Anthony today as they have to say goodbye to a loving and special granddaughter they lost to some one's cruel and deadly hands. I do hope and pray justice will be served and the right person is punished within the standards of Florida's law. No one should have to say goodbye to a child in this manner, really anyone in that case. Lots of other reasons are out there to lose a loved one without something this tragic to happen.

Tiffany Nicole Long of Burlington, North Carolina - October 16, 1998 at the young age of ten years old lost her life to the hands of three local teens who was charged with her brutal and dreadful murder. No amount of words makes it any better, this was a senseless and despicable murder. I never could quite understand what motivated them into such a crime as this - am sure they knew right from wrong even if they were young. Such a sad situation and yet there is very few days that go by that I don't think of Tiffany and her family. I would love to see and talk wer her grandmother again.

You know I will never forget the evening I heard on the news of the missing 10 year old girl in Burlington, N.C. and waking the next morning to hear they had found her and the tragic way she was killed. I couldn't help being glued to the television and the newspapers to read about Tiffany and the trial of the three teens who were accused of her murder. They were so very young and I couldn't help but think of what their families were going through too. The only thing - they would be able to see them again - their lives weren't taken away - out of sight. They could write and visit and talk with them but Tiffany's life was over, a memory to all who loved her and missed that little 10 year old child with a grin so captivating to anyone. I remember the pictures her sisters showed me the day I met them after visiting with a poem I had written and framed for her grandmother, Nancy. I remember the vigil where candles were lit and prayers were said for Tiffany and her family. Remembering this tragedy happening in this small community will be with me always - I sit and write about my feelings and think of it often. No matter when or where my grandchildren are I worry every minute of the day about them. No one should have to go through this any time of their lives - but it is real - they are out there to hurt some poor soul eveyday and it happens too often. Crime is up in our streets now in 2008 more than it was in 1998.

After the trial I wondered is it really over? We can't just wipe it out of our minds and forget. I never knew Tiffany or her family until I heard about the missing child and that she was found murdered. And then I met her grandmother, Nancy, oh my word this is the lady who works at the remnant shop at BMOC! Shock was my first feeling, then the sentiments began. How in the world could she cope? How could she manage a tragedy such as this and raising her grandchildren alone? My heart felt so heavy - I could never imagine going through this. I lost a granchild due to premature birth and thought my world had fell apart! How was she going to make it? Talking to Nancy at the store on several occasions I thought she was one of the sweetest ladies I had ever met, so nice and polite and really helpful while working at that store. I could not get my mind off of what she was going through.

I thought of the many lives that were tattered and torn in two since the tragedy of Tiffany and could never get these words out of my mind - I would like to share it with you...

It’s Never Really Over …

As the trial is slowly ending
the jury has come in
Waiting in anticipation,
oh where do they begin?
“Guilty” is the verdict,
a lifetime for all three
Hoping God will guide them
help to make them see
There was a life taken
in a cruel and battering way
As a community will remember
what happened on that day.
Pressure in the courtroom
with evidence and such
Tears from the families
who loved and cared so much
It’s never really over,
the memories are still there
Of lives that have been shattered
the ones who always care
No one wins today
it’s a shame for this world, you see!
There’s so much crime and hatred
in this cruel society
It’s never really over
`lest we will forget
This little girl who loved life
and the three paying the debt.

Tragedy struck, all was lost
When reality did appear

Three local teens were at fault
Taking a life so young and new
So close to home in an abandoned house
Just down the avenue

Three scared teens ran away
Leaving her beaten and tied up
A sunny day in October
A sense of tragedy did develop.

Lifeless and bound there she laid
That child of ten years old
Police investigates and captured the three
Questions them as their tales were told

Tonight while the family thinks back
Ten years ago it seems
That it was only yesterday
The three tore apart their dreams.

a realationship - well at least that is what I was taught. If anyone

knew about dishonesty, it was my mother. She learned first hand

after my daddy had deceived and cheated on her for so many years.

The Haw River overflowed...

Last summer my sisters' Mother's

Day gift was a new deck from her son.

A place for relaxation and all her flowers.

Lots of traffic is on this road, so there is

plenty to see.

Yesterday, August 27, 2008 -

North Carolina was hit with remnants of Hurricane Fay. After all the devastating torment to Florida and all of the south, she headed our way. Bringing much needed rain, yet no one wants to see all this water. Elaine called me from work at 1:30pm and was getting worried about her home, as I assurd her it wasn't raining hard. Not long after her call, the rains came pouring down and for a while I didn't think it was going to let up at all! As the rain fell, the phone started ringing ... everybody wanting to know about the weather. Staying glued to the television and scanner there were threats of funnel clouds in Alamance County - flooded roads all over the map of our small southern towns.

Around 3:35pm, the phone rang, I answered and as she sobbed I knew what had happened. She and five other homeowners had to be evacuated from their homes. Duke Energy had to turn off the power and prepare for any emergencies around the area. George waded in the water to unlock the door and opened a window at the end of her home to crawl and retrieve her food from her freezer and pack an overnight bag. She is fine and staying with me and expecting to go home later on today.

This isn't the first time - she went through this in 1996, Fran made her way through Alamance County with her flood waters causing devastation all over.

Before 1947 the year I was born

I Never Knew You ...

Throughout my life I had one set of Grandparents, my mother's parents. Daddy's dad passed away before I was born and his mom passed away in the 50's when I was small. I can't remember her. I have a picture or two of them yet I wished I had known them.

This poem is dedicated to My Grandparents, John & Mary Allison

I Never Knew You

Throughout the years

I wondered

how it would be

If I could just known you

and you were here with me

Grandparents are special

for a kid so young and small

I never knew you

while growing to be big and tall

Granddaddy left

years before the day of my birth

There were only a few of us

as you spent your days on earth

I barely remember Granny,

she left when I was small

So now I never knew you

or remember you at all

It seems so very long ago

and yet I wish it too

That I could have known you

I have a lot of people to thank because they have been so good to my granddaughter, Reagan, and our family. I cannot begin to name everyone, but to everyone whom God has put in our path since Reagan was diagnosed with leukemia last August, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Prayers, monies, gifts for Reagan, etc., all were from wonderful generous people, some we know and love, others we don't even know.
An example of a stranger's gift: Last night my daughter, granddaughter and I were at Wal-Mart on Graham-Hopedale Road. I was in the fabric department looking at some material. We have taken on a project to make small pillows for the sick kids at UNC Children's Hospital in Chapel Hill. Everyone there has been great to us and very supportive.
Wendy and Reagan had gone to get Reagan a slushie and I was looking at material when this lady and I began to talk. I told her my project idea and made the suggestion that the character material sure was expensive. It was $4.50 a yard. I told her I would have to wait until it went on sale. Her daughter came up and they went on their way. A few minutes later I saw her and her daughter and she motioned for me to come there. When I got there she handed me $5 and said she wanted to help with the pillows. I told her I couldn't take her money, but she insisted. Then her daughter handed me $5 also. I was then about in tears. How could a complete stranger be so kind to me? Wendy and I found some material that actually was for a cloth book. It had squares on it with nursery rhythms. I bought it and came home and cut the squares out. I have enough to make 24 pillows.
To that lady, thank you so much. I didn't even get your name. Names don't matter, kindness does. May God truly bless you and your daughter.
To everyone that has come into our life whether we know you or not, thank you and God Bless.

One Year Ago Today:

August 20, 2008

It was exactly one year ago today that Reagan was taken from the ER at Moses Cone Hospital to the UNC Children's Hospital after blood work showed a serious problem. We received her diagnosis just hours after our arrival in Chapel Hill and I felt like I'd been hit with a brick.
The week prior to her diagnosis she had been so sick, back and forth to the doctors office 3 times before finally we went to the emergency room late Sunday evening when her temperature spiked to 106. We were so scared, but felt some sense of comfort and relief with the pediatric doctor at Moses Cone, who agreed that some blood work should be ran, within hours of receiving her lab results we were on our way to Chapel Hill. In the year since her diagnosis we have truly been blessed by all the wonderful people who have supported us, by the incredible staff at Chapel Hill- both during her inpatient stay and now her outpatient treatment. I can't possibility put into words how wonderful and compassionate these folks really are or how grateful I am to them.
Looking back over the last year, I can't believe all that we have endured especially Reagan. She has already, at 3, experienced more than most of us will in a lifetime and done it with such courage. I couldn't have been blessed with a more precious little girl!
As we continue on with the next two years of her treatment, I just wanted to thank everyone who has taken this journey with us- we are so very thankful for all of you.

How many of these did YOU know about?

A sealed envelope - Put in the freezer for a few hours,

then slide a knife under the flap. The envelope can

then be resealed.(hmmmmmm...)

Use Empty toilet paper roll to store appliance cords.

It keeps them neat and you can write on the roll what

appliance it belongs to.

=======================================

For icy door steps in freezing temperatures: get warm

water and put Dawn dish washing liquid in it. Pour it

all over the steps. They won't refreeze. (wish I had

known this for the last 40 years!)

To remove old wax from a glass candle holder, put it

in the freezer for a few hours. Then take the candle

holder out and turn it upside down. The wax will fall out.

=======================================

Crayon marks on walls? This worked wonderfully!

A damp rag, dipped in baking soda. Comes off with l

ittle effort (elbow grease that is!).

=======================================

Permanent marker on appliances/counter tops

(like store receipt BLUE!) rubbing alcohol on paper towel.

=======================================

Whenever I purchase a box of S.O.S Pads, I immediately

take a pair of scissors and cut each pad into halves.

After years of having to throw away rusted and unused

and smelly pads, I finally decided that this would be much

more economical. Now a box of S.O.S pads last me indefinitely!

In fact, I have noticed that the scissors get sharpened this way!

Blood stains on clothes? Not to worry! Just pour a little hydrogen

peroxide on a cloth and proceed to wipe off every drop of blood.

Work s every time! (Now, where to put the body?) LOL

Use vertical strokes when washing windows outside and horizontal

for inside windows. This way you can tell which side has the streaks.

Straight vinegar will get outside windows really clean. Don ' t wash

windows on a sunny day. They will dry t oo quickly and will probably

streak.

Spray a bit of perfume on the light bulb in any room to create a

lovely light scent in each room when the light is turned on.

=======================================

Place fabric softener sheets in dresser drawers and your clothes

will smell freshly washed for weeks to come. You can also do this

with towels and linen.

Candles will last a lot longer if placed in the freezer for at least

3 hours prior to burning.

=======================================

To clean artificial flowers, pour some salt into a paper bag and

add the flowers. Shake vigorously as the salt will absorb all the

dust and dirt and leave your artificial flowers looking like new!

Works like a charm!

To easily remove burnt on food from your skillet, simply add a drop

or two of dish soap and enough water to cover bottom of pan,

and bring to a boil on stove top.

Spray your TUPPERWARE with nonstick c ooking spray before pouring

in tomato based sauces and there won't be any stains.

Wrap celery in aluminum foil when putting in the refrigerator and

it will keep for weeks.

When boiling corn on the cob, add a pinch of sugar to help bring

out the corn's natural sweetness

Cure for headaches: Take a lime, cut it in half, and rub it on your

forehead. The throbbing will go away.

Don't throw out all that leftover wine: Freeze into ice cubes for

future use in casseroles and sauces ........

area and you will experience instant relief.

a chalk line. So, get your chalk out and draw a line on the floor or

wherever ants tend to march. See for yourself.

Use air-freshener to clean mirrors. It does a good job and better still,

leaves a lovely smell to the shine.

When you get a splinter, reach for the scotch tape before resorting to

tweezers or a needle. Simply put the scotch tape over the splinter, and

then pull it off. Scotch tape removes most splinters painlessly and easily.

Now look what you can do with Alka Seltzer........Clean a toilet. Drop in t

wo Alka Seltzer tablets, wait twenty minutes, brush and flush.

The citric acid and effervescent action clean vitreous China

Clean a vase.To remove a stain from the bottom of a glass vase or cruet,

fill with water and drop in two Alka Seltzer tablets.

Polish jewelry.Drop two Alka Seltzer tablets into a glass of water

and immerse the jewelry for two minutes.

Clean a thermos bottle.Fill the bottle with water, drop in four

Alka Seltzer tablets, and let soak for an hour (or longer, if necessary).

Unclog a drain.Clear the sink drain by dropping three Alka Seltzer

tablets down the drain followed by a cup of Heinz White Vinegar.

Wait a few minutes, and then run the hot water.

Once in a while you come along a recipe or two that you haven't heard of and wonder could this really be a good choice?
Banana Nut Bread - love it and am always looking for new ways of baking one. And the Chocolate Swirl bread - gotta try!!
Never heard of the Tomato Soup Cake - So that is a go getter~ Wanted to share with you. And if you try it let me know what you think!

Banana Nut Bread:

2-3 ripe bananas, mashed
1 c. sugar
2 T. shortening
1 egg
3/4 c. milk
3 c. all-purpose flour
3 1/2 t. baking powder
1 t. salt
3/4 c. nuts, chopped (optional- I don't use them

because my boys just pick them out! LOL)
Heat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a large (or two small)

loaf pan(s). Mix sugar, shortening, and egg well. Stir in

milk. Fold in flour, bananas, and nuts (if desired). Pour

into greased pans. Bake for 60-70 minutes or until a

toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean. Cool

thoroughly before slicing.

Tomato Soup Cake

This cake was probably invented by a homemaker
who needed to produce a dessert with little expense. I am
certain she probably searched her cabinets, found a can of
tomato soup, and became culinarily creative with it! Tomato
Soup Cake is a moist, dense cake with a spicy taste- in other
words, it's delicious! Your guests will never guess the secret
ingredient, but I'll bet they'll ask for seconds
!
1 (10.75 ounce) can condensed tomato soup
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup white sugar
1 egg
1/3 cup butter, unsalted
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1 1/2 cups self-rising flour
1 cup raisins
Combine soup and baking soda in a bowl and let stand.

Cream sugar, egg, butter, cinnamon, and cloves in

mixing bowl until smooth. Add soup mixture. Mix in

flour and stir in raisins. Pour into a greased bundt or

tube pan and bake at 325 degrees for 45 minutes to

1 hour (or until done). Cool and sprinkled cake with

confectioner's sugar or frost cake with cream cheese

frosting. (I mix 1 block of Neufchatel cheese, 1 lb.

confectioner's sugar, and 1/2 t. vanilla together to

make a dripping, thick glaze for this cake- it looks

so pretty!) :o)

Double Chocolate Swirl Bread

1/2 cup sliced almonds, chopped

1 cup white chocolate morsels, divided 2 package

(11 ounces each)

refrigerated French bread dough

1 egg white

1 tablespoon water

1/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate morsels, grated

1 teaspoon vegetable oil 1.

Preheat oven to 375°F. Lightly spray Mini Loaf Pan

with vegetable oil using nonstick cooking spray.

Coarsely chop almonds and half of the white chocolate

morsels; place in Classic Batter Bowl.2. On lightly floured

surface, unroll one package of bread dough; do not stretch.

Lightly beat egg white and water in Small Batter Bowl;

brush dough with a portion of the egg mixture. Grate

half of the semi-sweet chocolate morsels evenly over

dough. Sprinkle with half of the almond and white

chocolate mixture; roll lightly with Baker's Roller™,

pressing mixture into dough. 3. Unroll remaining package

of bread dough directly over first dough layer, matching

seams and rolling lightly to seal. Brush dough lightly with

portion of egg mixture; grate remaining chocolate morsels

over dough and sprinkle with remaining white chocolate and

almond mixture. Roll lightly with baker's roller.4. Starting

at narrow edge, roll dough up tightly; press edge to seal.

Slice roll into 4 equal portions; place seam side down in

pan. Make deep cut down the length of each loaf without

cutting through ends. Brush loaves with remaining egg

mixture.5. Bake 25-30 minutes or until golden brown

(center of loaves may appear moist). Remove pan to

Stackable Cooling Rack; cool 5 minutes. Remove loaves

from pan. Cool completely. 6. Microwave remaining white

chocolate and oil, uncovered, on HIGH 30-40 seconds or

until chocolate is melted and smooth. (Do not overheat.)

Drizzle chocolate over loaves; sprinkle with sliced almonds

or chocolate morsels, if desired.Yield: 4 mini loaves

(4 servings per loaf) Nutrients per serving: Calories 190,

Total Fat 7 g, Saturated Fat 3 g, Cholesterol less than 5 mg,

Carbohydrate 27 g, Sodium 260 mg, Fiber 0 g

My daughter-in-laws' grandmother came to visit her and made

this salad that was wonderful! I think the whole family was

especially glad to try something new...

Napa Cabbage Salad

1 Lrg. Head Napa Cabbage
7 Chopped Green Onions
2 Pkgs. Ramen Noodles
1-Cup Sliced Almonds

Dressing Mix:
1-Cup Sesame Seed
1-Cup Canola Oil
½ Cup White Vinegar
2 Tbsp. Soy Sauce
1-Cup Sugar

Step 1.
Chop Cabbage & Green Onions; mix together
Step 2.
Add Dressing Mix
Step 3.
Adding Crunch Mix (the following is Crunch Mix)

Put stick of butter in skillet, melt and add crushed

noodles, almonds and sesame seeds.
Brown over medium heat and cool before adding to s

alad.

You can mix the salad and keep several days. Do not

add the crunch mix until you are
Ready to serve. Crunch nix should be made first thing

(if you are serving the entire recipe), as it needs to

cool before adding to the salad.

a hit at our Mother's Day cookout last year! After

chasing us all around wanting us to taste and tell her

what we thought - I decided to add this recipe. It really

is good! Love you Sis...

Elaine's Bean Dip

2{16oz} cans of Refried Beans

1 lb. ground beef

1{1.25oz.} envelope Old El Paso Taco Seasoning Mix

3/4 cup water

1 1/2 cups shredded lettuce

6 oz.shredded cheese {Chedder}

2 cups SalsaTortilla Chips

TO PREPARE:

Spread beans on a 14=inch serving platter. In a large skillet,

brown ground beef over medium heat until done,stirring

occasionally, drain.Stir in Taco Seasoning and water, cook

and stir for 10 to 15 min. Spread mixture over beans. Top

with lettuce, cheese, and salsa. Serve with Tortilla Chips

You can also add and serve with Chopped Green Chiles, Sour Cream,

Ripe Olives Slices

Oh the taste of coffee can’t be beaten

Instantly spotting the Little Dipper

To feel a flush on their cheeks

She’s now been gone for years

Waiting

Patiently she waits by the phone

While secretly she prays

To hear his voice as it’s long waited

Silent nights she spends alone

Immune to surrounding sounds

In her heart she longed for his touch

Like dying ember to campgrounds

Their love was enormous – yet bitter and sweet

Time apart was their reward
